Experience & Enthusiasm
Anne is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of all ages and levels! In addition to maintaining a private studio, Anne has coached through Indiana University's Pre-College Recorder Program, Oberlin's Baroque Performance Institute, The Virginia Baroque Performance Institute, Mountain Collegium, Catacoustic Consort's Community Recorder Program, and for numerous American Recorder Society chapters. Anne teaches students of all ages and levels; students have ranged in age from 6-83, and in level from beginners through pre-professionals. Teaching is a passion for Anne.
Lessons
Anne offers individual and group lessons in one hour, half hour, or 45 minute increments out of her home studio in Richmond, VA. Lessons can be arranged on a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly basis. Anne's philosophy of teaching combines comprehensive technical instruction with fun! Music is, and should be, a source of great joy, and learning the recorder is a wonderful way to introduce the joy of music into your life or the life of your child.
Workshops
Anne offers workshop presentations of varying lengths and levels depending on the needs of your group. Recent workshop presentations have focused on the fundamentals of baroque ornamentation, the recorder "technique triangle," Renaissance "pop" tunes, and the music of composers who lived in exile. All sessions are interactive, entertaining, and joyful. Anne has most recently presented in Ohio, North Carolina, and Virginia.
